THRIVE for Wellbeing is a free group for students wanting to improve their wellbeing or learn new ways to navigate challenges. Students have told us they have really enjoyed the art activities and learnt new skills that they have applied to their life and study.

Structure

  • Group is held Thursdays from 12pm - 1pm.

  • Location - L326, Auchmuty Library, Callaghan Campus

  • Snacks provided

  • We encourage you to attend for 3 weeks consecutively and you may also return for as many sessions as you like.

  • You can start on any of the dates.

  • The course gives you some time out to learn skills to help you navigate stress, anxiety and your inner critic in a fun and interactive way.

What to expect

THRIVE is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is an evidenced-based psychological intervention. Our experienced facilitators will introduce a topic and engage you in some fun activities to promote new skills you can apply in your own life to enhance wellbeing.

You will discover how to:

  • Use mindfulness in practical, meaningful ways

  • Apply practical skills to stop fighting internal struggles

  • Set and achieve goals—even when discomfort shows up.

Benefits include:

  • Improved wellbeing

  • Improved focus

  • Connect with fellow students.

Facilitators

  • We are passionate about helping students by providing evidence-based strategies that are practical and realistic.

  • We are experienced Student Wellbeing (Counselling) staff who are registered psychologists, social workers and/or mental health practitioners.
